Version of 4 October 2026
Italian Machinery Association supplies complex, specialised and large metalworking machinery to industrial companies. Most machines are configured, set up or built to the specific order of the customer. For this reason, the standard return and exchange rules used in retail do not apply to our equipment.
1. The supply contract governs everything
The allocation of risks, the warranty, acceptance, replacement and any possible return of the equipment are set out individually for each delivery in the supply contract. The contract usually specifies:
- the scope of supply, technical specifications and acceptance criteria for the equipment;
- the delivery term and the moment the risk passes (see the “Shipping” page for details);
- the warranty period and conditions, the warranty service procedure and the supply of warranty spare parts;
- how claims are submitted and the time for handling them;
- the terms for changing or cancelling the order.
The terms of the supply contract take precedence over this page.
2. Why machines cannot be returned “without reason”
- machines are configured for the customer’s tasks: options, tooling, CNC, software, mains voltage;
- many machines are built by the manufacturer only after the order is received;
- delivery, rigging, installation and commissioning of large equipment involve significant costs;
- once installed and put into operation, the equipment can no longer be sold as new.
3. How we reduce risks before purchase
To make sure the equipment fits your production, before the contract is signed we:
- select the model and configuration for your parts, materials and volumes;
- by agreement, arrange a machine demonstration and test machining of your parts;
- by agreement, carry out factory acceptance tests (FAT) at the manufacturer’s plant before shipment;
- agree clear acceptance criteria in the contract.
4. Acceptance and claims
On receipt, check the scope of supply and the external condition of the equipment. If the scope or specifications do not match the contract, notify us at ivan@italianmachines.eu within the time stated in the contract, with photos and a description. We will review the claim together with the manufacturer and propose a solution: delivery of missing items, repair, replacement of a component or another remedy provided for in the contract. For transport damage, see “Receiving the goods” on the “Shipping” page.
5. Warranty
The equipment is covered by the manufacturer’s and/or supplier’s warranty. The warranty period, scope and conditions are set out in the supply contract. In a warranty case, faulty components and parts are repaired or replaced by the manufacturer or our service partners. The warranty does not cover wear of consumables or damage caused by failure to follow the operating, installation or maintenance instructions.
6. Changing or cancelling an order
The configuration can usually be changed or the order cancelled before the equipment goes into production or before it is shipped — by agreement with us and the manufacturer. Any costs and the procedure for refunding the advance payment are set out in the supply contract.
